Filmy Friday: In just 2 days, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif's Bharat surpasses the lifetime business of more than 20 films of 2019

Director Ali Abbas Zafar's Bharat marked an earth-shattering opening day on the festive day of Eid and raked in Rs 42.30 crore on its first day at the box office. As per early estimates, the film has held well on its second day and has collected approximately between the range of Rs 25 to Rs 30 crore. So, Bharat currently stands at a grand total of approximately Rs 82 crore. In just two days, the film has beat the lifetime business of more than 20 Bollywood films, which released this year. With today’s earnings, Bharat will surpass the business of De De Pyaar De and Kalank and will enter the list of top grossers of 2019. The period drama is expected to enter the Rs 100 crore club in its first three days and become the second fastest film of 2019 to achieve this feat after Avengers: Endgame.

Talking about Bharat, it is an official adaption of a Korean film, Ode To My Father. The film showcases Salman Khan in five different avatars from 18 to 72 years. Bharat also stars Jackie Shroff, Tabu, Sunil Grover, Disha Patani, Nora Fatehi and Aasif Sheikh in key roles. It marks the third collaboration between director Ali Abbas Zafar and Salman Khan after Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai. Produced by Atul Agnihotri and Bhushan Kumar, the film released in 4700 screens in India.
