The Queen Of Parties: Ekta Kapoor

She is known to be a tough taskmaster, but once she snaps out of her work-mode the czarina of the Indian television industry aka Ekta Kapoor turns into an elegant host, ensuring that everyone who works with her is having a gala time at the lavish soirées that she throws. 

Be it Iftaar celebrations, Diwali festivities or the success bashes of her films Ekta’s parties are definitely the most awaited and most talked about gatherings in Bollywood. Replete with mouth-watering food, gallons of booze and fun on the dance floor, this Kapoor gal’s parties are the most happening ones in B-town. 

“I love throwing parties. My mother usually takes care of the actual details – the arrangements, the set-up, the music and the guest list,” reveals Ekta who is currently in news for her upcoming erotica film — XXX, which she is producing under her banner — ALT Entertainment. 

More than being a party animal, Ekta enjoys being the host as she says, “I like being the host to people I work with. I do my best to ensure that the guests are looked after and that everyone is having a good time. I can have the parties at any hotel I want to, but I want my team who works with me to have this sense of belonging, hence I always host all parties at my house.” 

Ekta who has also produced many blockbuster hits like Main Tera Hero, Ragini MMS 2, The Dirty Picture etc further states, “Whether the party is large or small, we are lucky that we have a big house, so it’s just normal to have a house party. Even if the catering is from outside, the service is done in the house. My mom’s done up the house so well, what other way to celebrate with friends than have them over?”

While Ekta is always charged up about her get-togethers, she is also notorious for turning up late for her own parties and chasing her guests with some mindboggling alcohol shots. There is no escaping the booze and merriment on the dance floor if you are partying with this fun loving gal.

Grand birthday celebrations are another must for this party savvy queen of daily soaps. She had once wanted a Goan theme beach party for her birthday and the czarina recreated Goa at her home, complete with a shack, beach umbrellas, beach chairs, seafood and even the popular Goan dessert bibinca.

And when she is not hosting such extravagant soirées, one will often spot her hanging out at some popular joints in the city like Hakkasan and Indigo Café or watching movies with her close pals like Anita Hassanandani, Mona Singh, Sakshi Tanwar, Divyanka Tripathi and other Television besties. “There was actually a time when I was a slave to my work, but now I have learned to strike a balance and try to get some time out for myself,” says Ekta.

While the queen of soaps may appear to be a social butterfly, who enjoys partying and going out with friends, when it comes to unwinding and relaxing, Ekta just needs a tub of her favorite gelato ice-cream and her regular dosage of American television shows. “That is my time to unwind,” says the feisty gal. 

But again if there is anything that calls for celebrations, this queen of parties is always ready to call the shots.
